Our pastry airbrush collection includes all the equipment for food gun coloring. Airbrush + compressor kits for general public, specific liquid airbrush colors (16-20 ml), cleaners for gun maintenance, accessories (nozzles, needles, cups). Ideal for passionate pastry chefs, home cake designers, and motivated beginners who want to achieve color gradients or a sprayed effect on their cakes.

Why use an airbrush in cake design

The food airbrush allows 3 effects impossible to achieve by hand. Color gradient: gradual blending from one shade to another on fondant, ideal for ombré wedding cakes. Sprayed effect: uniform colored veil on large surfaces (cake boards, presentation backgrounds). Fine details: with a 0.3 mm nozzle, draw intricate patterns on a cake without touching the surface. Technique adopted by the best international cake designers.

Choosing your airbrush kit

3 levels of range. Beginner kit: single-action gun + mini silent compressor, ideal to discover the technique on small cakes. Intermediate kit: double-action gun (independent air and paint control) + 25-decibel silent compressor, perfect for regular hobbyists. Pro kit: high-precision double-action gun + silent compressor with tank, for semi-pro workshops with high output.

Specific airbrush colors

Food airbrush colors have an ultra-fluid viscosity (different from standard gel or liquid colors) to avoid clogging the gun nozzle. Classic 16-20 ml dropper bottles. All colors: pastels, bright, metallic gold and silver, neutrals (white, black). Always filter the color before pouring it into the gun cup to avoid impurities.

Is airbrushing hard to learn?
No, the basic technique is learned in 30 minutes: press the trigger for air, pull back for paint. The first hours allow testing pressure, distance, and sweeping speed. Expect 5-10 hours of practice to master complex gradients. Tip: start on paper with watercolor paint to practice without wasting cake.
What color should be used in an airbrush?
Only specific liquid airbrush colors, never standard gel or liquid colors that would clog the nozzle. Airbrush colors have calibrated viscosity for spraying. If too thick: dilute with a few drops of food rejuvenator (60° food-grade alcohol).
How to clean an airbrush?
Cleaning after each color: empty the cup, spray distilled water until clear, disassemble the needle and clean it with a cotton swab soaked in food cleaner. Cleaning at the end of the session: complete disassembly, rinse all parts, air dry. A poorly cleaned airbrush dries and clogs permanently.
Is the airbrush suitable for professionals?
Patissland offers general public and semi-pro kits. For high-output workshops needing absolute precision: prefer pro specialized brands like Iwata or Harder & Steenbeck (dental range converted to pastry). These brands are not available at Patissland but can be found at pro cake design distributors.
